Treating the connective tissues (fascia) of the abdomen has been an important component of Molly’s bodywork from the beginning. Working with the abdomen is a direct route to regulating the vagus nerve, promoting circulation and function of the digestive tract and encouraging optimal function of the reproductive organs.
From the respiratory diaphragm to the pelvic floor, the abdomen contains our most potent and vulnerable parts. Many of us have a fraught relationship with our bellies and abdominal massage can help us come into a more positive relationship with the abdomen. What to expect from a treatment: We take 90 minutes for your first visit. We have a detailed conversation about your in-depth health history. I formulate a treatment plan tailored to your goals and then we get you on the table. All of my clients are fully dressed for their treatments, so we do not need to use oils or creams. I then treat the abdomen using a combination of fascia therapy techniques (also known as craniosacral therapy) and abdominal massage. I teach you how to massage your belly every day to get the most benefit of our work together. I may give you “homework” including other self-care techniques that may complement the abdominal massage. Our subsequent visits will include work on the back of the body and be tailored to how your body is responding to our work and your goals. My abdominal massage training During the 2020 shutdown, Molly and 18 of her colleagues from around the world, including Dr. Rosita Arvigo, formed the Abdominal Therapy Collective, Inc (ATC). Molly helped develop corporate processes and the practitioner classes offered by the ATC and taught abdominal therapy classes for the ATC from 2020 to 2022. From 2009 to 2020, Molly trained with the Arvigo® Institute, becoming a certified practitioner (C-ATMAT) of the Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® with Advanced Pregnancy training and an Arvigo® Institute teacher. Molly was a featured speaker at the 2015 Arvigo® Covention in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Her talk was titled Trauma and ATMAT: The Social Nervous System, Tissue Release and the Magic of Loving Hands. |
