The Spirit Organic Doula Team

Our doulas work as a full-spectrum doula team to provide you with as much support as you need.

In addition to Molly we have Allison Kelly and Elsa Deutschbein walking with you every step of the way.
Before the birth:

As you move through your pregnancy your body will change. Together we will joyfully
  • use bodywork, stretches and exercise as recommended in Gail Tully's Spinning Babies to prepare your pelvis and pelvic floor for the new demands of growing a baby
  • use bodywork, meditation and visualization to address previous trauma, clear the way, and bring awareness to compensatory patterns we might encounter during birth
  • use abdominal breathing and relaxation practice to prepare for labor and birth
  • have in-depth conversations with you and your birth partner(s) about making choices that are right for you and your family for your birth

During labor and birth:

We will be there to support you and your partner(s) in whatever way you desire
  • over the phone as your labor begins
  • at your home/birthplace as active labor settles in
  • until after the baby is born and the placenta is delivered
  • during a family-centered or emergency cesarean birth (if your providers allow)

After the birth:
  • We will remain with you for one or two hours after the birth
  • If the baby doesn't require special care and you give Molly consent, Molly will give him or her a craniosacral evaluation and treatment as soon as possible after birth
  • We will schedule a postpartum visit to talk with you and your family about your birth and to check on how well baby is feeding
  • Other postpartum doula services are available from. our team

Fees
Our services for a pregnancy is up to seven prenatal/bodywork/ postnatal sessions (a $1050 value) plus birth services (a $2000 value) for $2800.

Unusual circumstances do arise and we are here help you through them. Having a doula can make a medically difficult pregnancy more manageable. And in times of great sorrow and stress a doula can provide a kind unconditionally supportive companion if a pregnancy is lost or needs to be terminated. Please call us for specific arrangements at (585)746-4682.

Spirit Organic Doula/Birth Keeper Code of Ethics*

As a labor and/or postpartum support provider/doula I agree that:
  • The doula works for the client family regardless of the source of their fee.
  • Doula sustainability requires the support of other doulas both personally and to provide advocacy for doulas .
  • Doula sustainability requires adequate fees so that any parent can support themselves as a doula.
  • The doula’s role requires trust.  I strive to be honest, credible and respectful in my public and private communications with clients, colleagues and care providers.
  • Being a provider in the childbearing year requires curiosity and (re)education so that we can provide high quality essential care with the goal of improving the overall health of our community.
  • Community support and cultural competency are critical to providing as many families as possible with the support they need to parent their newborn as well as possible.
  • We are nondiscriminatory and believe that all families deserve open-hearted support in the choices they feel are best for them.
  • Birth doulas are effective because of continuous support. We may be on call for a set of families, but only attend one labor at a time, using backup doulas to provide one on one care as needed.
  • Client information is held in confidence.
  • We maintain appropriate personal and professional boundaries.
  • My emotional and physical well-being are essential to the quality of care I can provide. I will prioritize my own care as part of my doula practice.

*Thank you to the members of the Doula Cooperative of Rochester for their contributions to the statements in this Code of Ethics.
